Maggie picture

Okay, I'm told that there are requests for pictures. Presumably specifically of kids.

Trouble is, you spend your holiday sick as a dog, you don't do much picture taking.

Here's one I took yesterday, though, after we got the new HEPA filter fan. It's reducing the smokiness in the air and helping. Maggie is vastly amused by it blowing her hair out of her face, though.

It's at the bottom of the stairs. Karl set it up while she was napping, so when she came downstairs she came over to tell me about being in "the wind!"

Maggie did get some cute new outfits over the holidays. So I will try to get more pictures taken in the reasonably near future.

The Big Project, unveiled at last!

Picture of The Big Project behind the cut )
There have been various mentions in my journal of The Big Project I'd been working on. People may have noticed that no details of The Big Project were given publically, and most probably drew the correct inference, that it was to be a Christmas project.

Some people, of course, have come over, and were dragged to my study so I could inflict it on them got the opportunity to see it in progress.

So here it is - the Lilacs and Lace afghan. [livejournal.com profile] phoenixsinger does latchhooking, and some time ago did for herself an oval Lilacs and Lace rug that she's very fond of. When she was here a year ago, she told me she knew there existed a kit for a matching crocheted afghan. She didn't crochet. Well, I taught her basic crochet. But when I came across the kit back in June or so, I could see this was going to be too complex for her. Whew. It was complex indeed - three wide vertical sections, two narrow sections worked sideways, all five sewn together, the border added to the whole thing, and then the designs cross-stitched on over the crochet.

But it's DONE Done done, and it was done and wrapped in time to give to [livejournal.com profile] phoenixsinger on Xmas Eve. Yay!

Shed some light on your work

[livejournal.com profile] patgund (as I force my fingers not to type "padawagund") sent me this link:

Lighted Knitting Accessories

"Use the Force, Luke - knit two, purl two!"

Okay, mostly bigger sizes, but it does go down to size 6, I use that size sometimes. (Really, for size 10 and up, you don't even need the lighting to work in the dark, you can just feel the huge chunky stitches.)

But where are the circulars? Gah, who uses single points anymore?
