Some time ago the ORAC mailing list said that Firefly was "Deadlier than the Bird Flu", and said "My friends infected me this summer[...]We are major carriers, and at least two more of our co-workers are susceptible."

Someone else replied to it and mentioned reading, "The Great Influenza: The epic story of the deadliest plague in history" - and I was off from there. I'm finally done. If you've never heard The Flupandemic, let me know, it's a lovely piece of CheeriOse, my favorite kind of filk.

Well, I'm not on rec.music.filk. And I didn't know if the Bujold list would care for it or not. (The atmosphere over there doesn't feel as welcoming as it used to...) Part of it is that it's a bit of an obscure tune.
