Great restaurant trip

I got a nice treat last night. A friend of mine, having had discussions with me about what kinds of food I liked, took me to a restaurant I'd never been to. I knew we were going out to eat, but I didn't know where or what. It was a surprise. He'd told Karl about it, but I didn't know. Just that it was somewhere special, and I'd been told to be hungry. He took me to a restaurant down in southwest Fort Worth, called Edelweiss. They've been there a number of times and have gotten to know the owner. He came over from Germany years ago, set up the restaurant, owns, manages, and is the main entertainment, along with a couple other musicians and singers. Oh it was WONDERFUL. The food was just amazingly good, the atmosphere was relaxing and lovely, the music was good, I had such a good time, I didn't stop smiling the whole evening.

Cheese fondue with toast, wienerschnitzel and potato pancakes, and he had steak with these fantastic mushrooms (I was encouraged to try whatever of his I liked) and these wonderful fried onions and oh it was SO good. The portions were huge, I have half of it in the fridge - because of course we had to save room for desert, apfelstrudel that we shared, oh it was so so so so good. It wasn't crowded at all, weeknight as it was. So it felt reasonably intimate with the musicians. Miles got them to play something he likes. The owner wasn't singing as much as he usually does, maybe he was busy, but there were two others.

Yum. What a nice surprise. I predict I will go there again in the future!

Oh, it was. So relaxing. Tasted great, the place smelled good, looked comfortable, the sung German made me relax, it was all great.
