Saturday's housefilk

For Saturday's housefilk - we'll be providing a couple of main dishes for the evening. I'll try to get lots of coke, too. If anyone else wants to bring side dishes, munchies, or dessert stuff, that would be excellent.

We do have one couple crashing at our place already. Especially given the weather, if anyone else would like to crash, let me know. We can rearrange the kids to clear out another bed, and there's a couple of couches available, or the proverbial sleeping bag. We have a couple, feel free to bring yours.

Bad Joy. No doughnut.

Especially no powdered donuts.

If I say "soda pop" in this part of the country, people will laugh.

Aww. You don't want me to have *any* fun. ;(

Tell you what, you come to the housefilk, I'll get out the powdered sugar and you can do with it as you please. Just keep any razor blades out of reach of the children.

Y'all can call 'em "soft drinks". Most folks'll understand.
Not your fault you're not from around here.

{goes back to engineering...}

Where I'm from, people call them cokes.

"You want a coke?" "Sure! I'll have a diet Dr. Pepper"

And somewhere a trademark attorney is screaming...

Doesn't it fall under "no publicity is bad publicity"?

"Where I'm from, people call them cokes."

Same thing works here. Just harrasing. Y'all are relatively new Texans after all. ;-)

Weather is looking worrisome for tomorrow. Still watching it. How much rain and when are the big questions at this point. Temperatures are currently forecast well below freezing tonight and Saturday night.

If there's much ice at all I probably won't make it to the filk. The Mustang doesn't handle well on ice. At all. If I do head that way I'll bring my sleeping bag and such in case the weather gets worse.

I'm planning to bake some bread tonight. I'll bring a couple of loaves along if travel is workable.

Come early Saturday if you're worried about the weather, before it gets to ice up - even if we're still cleaning up, we'll be glad to see people - and bring the sleeping bag. Sunday's high is 45, so the icy roads won't stay icy.

Bread, yay! Karl's halfway through my 2nd loaf from earlier this week, so I expect it will be gone, and I really don't have the time before then to do more myself.

:)
I addressed this issue with my short-lived freshman English class. They didn't see the irony, but they learned to be a lot more specific and less colloquial in their essays.
