Braids cardigan update

As I posted before, I'm working on the braids cardigan for myself.

And I'm very excited - I've gotten to 13 inches of the body. See that horizontal line where the bottom of the sleeve comes into the underarm? Working from the bottom up, I've gotten to that height.

Now I get to stop doing 292 stitch rows alllllll the way across and back, and get to divide it up and start working on front and back yokes, more interesting stuff.

So far this project has been... 84 rows, 24,528 stitches. Not counting casting on. I started swatching for this in the evening of Sunday, Feb. 19th. I feel like I've made a lot of progress.

I'm *going* to get this thing made and completed.

Oh dear. This pattern does not tell you what size button to use. Nor how many. Heck, it says "...Buttonhole Row: Knit up the right front as many buttonholes as you need, using your favorite buttonhole;..." Oh dear. I suppose I'll figure something out.

Yarn help??

Hi Laura, I'm hoping you can help me. I'm finally doing the fluted bannister socks from the six-sock group and I'm loving the pattern. I'm trying to find the Sockotta color that the sample sock was done in and I was hoping you could help me? I've looked on the net and in a couple lys's but nothing seems to be the right color. Is there any chance that you remember what it is??? I'd be so grateful if you could help me out.
Thanks,
Marianne

That one was a sample knitted for me by one of the ladies helping run the list. I dug out her email about it, it mentioned the yarn type but not the color. So I emailed her asking her about it. If I hear back I'll let you know.

I'm glad you like the pattern. It's ironic - I had seen an article about a pattern in Weldon's Practical Needlework using that stitch pattern as a wrist cuff. I figured it would make a good sock. My mother gave me two new sock books for last Christmas, including one where everything was based off sock patterns in Weldon's - sure enough, there was a man's sock using the fluted banister pattern!

Thanks so much! I'm really hoping that her memory is better than mine! I'm doing good if I remember what yarn I'm using let alone the color number! I hope to have the Opal pair done this evening because I'm itching to start another pair!! Oh, no.....I'm addicted!!!!

I have a reply from her.
Hi Laura,

Hmmmm . . . I honestly can't remember the colorway and the ball band has been thrown away long ago. Sorry. But I did a fast Google search and immediately found this link to Plymouth Yarn Co. which has some color cards. http://www.plymouthyarn.com/index.php?nav=cYarn.yarnSearch

I'm almost positive the colorway is #16.

Susan

P.S. Those socks are still my favorites. ;)

I hope that helps!

Thanks, both of you! This is funny tho~~I bought a skein of the Sockotta and I bought #16!!It doesn't look anything like the color on the pattern I have. I know sometimes monitors will show the colors differently but this is a major difference! Mine are black,red,gold,purple,oranney/gold!! In the photo I have the sock looks blue, red and maybe a little yellow! Totally different!
I'm sure I'll like these but they aren't as nice as the photo...lol~~
Thanks again,
Mar
