Yay! I have a working printer once again. I'd had it before, but then couldn't get it to work - I wasn't sure if it was problems inherent in the printer, or the deteriorating state of my then-operating system. Unpacked that box in the study over the weekend, and decided to give it a try, since I have replaced the O/S since then. Hooked it up, found the printer drivers online, installed them, grabbed some of the notebook paper and ran a test print. Utterly blank page of paper.

I figured that this meant the ink cartridges were dead, which I'd kinda expected. Took the kids out to Staples, picked up ink cartridges, printer paper, and some planet window stickers as a present for when Brendan gets home. Just set it up again, and it worked fine.

[livejournal.com profile] selenite will be called on to bring out his trusty drill and put up a shelf for me over here in the computer corner, since sitting it on top of the PC is a) going to make it hard to open the kitchen cupboard for plates and b) will drop printouts into the sink. But it's working.

I oughta run upstairs and check if the cordless phone I dug out of a box in the study and plugged in was able to put a charge back on the battery, while I'm making technological improvements.

I wanted also to go to Central Market and get more gluten free waffles for Brendan, but the weather was deteriorating, and I figured I should get the kids home. Sounds like the Dallas side is getting hammered. We got home before the storm broke.
