Orange??

From [livejournal.com profile] lolleeroberts - I am impressed that the quiz actually came up with an orange that didn't make me go UGGGH. I don't like orange.

[livejournal.com profile] 17catherines has gotten me into trouble.

Pay It Forward: I will send a handmade (or at least I'll do everything I can to make it handmade) gift to the first 5 people who leave a comment here on my blog. I don't yet know what that gift will be, but you will receive it within 365 days. The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making a similar agreement on your blog.

Don't leave your details here - just leave a comment to reserve your place and we can talk about your details later.

Yeah, as [livejournal.com profile] 17catherines says, because we're not nearly busy enough. But clearly we're crazy.

This won't be anything big and intricate - just can't be. I have no idea what it would be yet. What the whimsy takes me with, I suppose. Today I've been doing Kid Crafts with Maggie - so it could be something on that level. Or not. We'll have to see what inspiration strikes me with.

I have a horrific headache from hell, and am not much of a conversationalist just now, so I will attempt to distract myself by playing the meme [livejournal.com profile] ciorstan posted.

Step 1: Put your media player on random
Step 2: Post the first line(s) of the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone guess what song and artist the lines come from.

Google may be your friend, but do this without it )

Guess away. This got interestingly eclectic.

I am having fun playing my birthday CD/DVD from [livejournal.com profile] fordprfct, and then getting nostalgic and digging up videos of my favorite stuff from the previous two albums in the trilogy on YouTube.

Found one of the Hot Patootie song from Rocky Horror Picture Show. Wow, that takes me back. Why yes, that's how I used to spend my Friday nights... 20 years ago. Eek. I still remember LOTS of the lines, although some of it is just "oh darn, that's a cue, what was the line?" Since I usually played Columbia, and the local Master played Eddie, yeah, that was a busy song for me. (I wish I had a picture of me from back then, [livejournal.com profile] selenite would love it)

And, what the hey, lots of my friends are doing it, says the lemming:

Oh, why not. I'm home tired and sick and headachy. And I want everybody else's opinion, too.

"Reply to this post, and I will tell you my favorite icon of yours. Then post this to your own journal using your own favorite icon."

I think I shall get visual with these - because every time I read comments on someone else's, I'm left wondering about some of the icons mentioned.

Having signed up for this on [livejournal.com profile] cflute and [livejournal.com profile] kitanzi's journals, it behooves me to do it as well.
The first five people to respond to this post, will get some form of wearable art/art/food, by me, about them that they like. I make no guarantees about quality or type, but I will assure that I will give it good effort and that the wearable art/art/food will be individual to you, so if you get a mixed CD or some sort of painting doodle, jar or baked good, yours is the only one like it.

The only catch, of course; as with most memes, if you sign up, it is desireable that you put this in your own journal as well.

Also, I make no promises about response time. I'll try to do them in a timely fashion, but I can't guarantee inspiration will strike immediately ;)
Now, I'd like to make a couple observations on this. The first is that the meme-as-it-has-been-passed-on promises that the people signed up will get something creative "that they like". I can't guarantee what any of you will like. I can say I think you might like it, but that's the best I can do.

And on the no promises about response time? OH yeah. I point out that I still have only written two of those sonnets I'm supposed to do someday before I die. Then again, I can create physical art here and then, in spare moments, without needing long periods of quiet, as writing would prefer. So we'll see. I suspect that getting stuff to the post office will be even harder than getting it made. (I have [livejournal.com profile] bksevier and [livejournal.com profile] rlseiver's anniversary present at long last - now if I can just get it MAILED...)

What the heck, I'll post it, maybe somebody will fill it out, since I've done several. Worst possible time to post and get any feedback, but heck with it. I'm going to head out shortly and be busy for a lot of the weekend, we'll see if there's anything when I get back.

Since you are on my friends list, I want to know about you. Doesn't matter if we have ever met or not, tell me any way. Come on... spread the joy. :) Post it to your journal to find out more about your friends too.

Entirely too long ago I signed up for a meme where I'd write sonnets by request, since I don't do fanfic. A number of people requested sonnets.

Life with small children is NOT conducive to creative writing. I only finished one sonnet. I have finally finished the second one, which [livejournal.com profile] autographedcat requested, on the subject "a sonnet about being too far removed from the people you care about". It refuses to be a proper sonnet with a proper iambic pentameter closing couplet, but it just insists.

[livejournal.com profile] asimovberlioz did it, and what the heck, I'm procrastinating from real work. I'm taking these to be questions on Top Favorites
  1. Candy: Current favorite is Lindt truffles, the dark chocolate and white chocolate ones. OoOooOooh yum. (Hm. Ed from ORAC still owes me a bunch, and $14 in yarn money, for his Jayne hat. I haven't made it to meetings in ages, and last I'd seen him he'd forgotten. Perhaps I should email him before FenCon or something)
  2. Cookie: Chocolate chip. Preferably the big decorated ones from Great American Chocolate Chip Cookie Company. But the BEST ones are the Double Fudge Double Doozie.
  3. Donuts: Don't eat them very often. Yes, back in California I found out just how addictive Krispy Kremes are, when fresh.
  4. Cold Drink: Unsweetened iced tea - ideally Te Java over some ice. Ooooh yeah.
  5. Hot Drink: Don't much go for them. I tend to burn my mouth. But an occasional hot chocolate during the winter is nice.

Just so you know, those poem things are going to take some serious TIME.

I am SO SO frustrated - I want to start work on another poem, but Maggie interrupts me every few words.

And then the train of thought and the scansion goes POOF.

The man from Porlock has nothing on her.

Oh dear, am regretting this already. I have as many requests in under an hour as [livejournal.com profile] selenite has had in two days - on two journals!

Meme from [livejournal.com profile] selenite

"The first 10 people to comment on this post get to request a drabble on a subject/character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to post this in their journal."

The original intent was for fanfic, but [livejournal.com profile] jazz007 widened it out to opinions/rants/whatever. [livejournal.com profile] selenite picked it up under those terms, and I really wanted to give him one.

However, I can't write fanfic. I've written one once. And that was for a special situation that really did not require me to come up with a plot. I do not think I could do it 10 more times.

But you can have sonnets. I used to do this in high school, take challenges to write a sonnet on varying subjects. They won't be high art, but they will technically be sonnets. (If you pick some fandom thing I haven't seen, I won't be able to do it.)

If somebody really wants, they can ask and I can *try* to do a story, but I may not be able to. If anybody wants to give me a songbird (filk equivalent of a plot bunny - like when someone said "Paperback Writer should really be filked into Admiral's Captain for Cordelia in Bujold"), I can try that.

But default is sonnets.
celticdragonfly: (Tophat)
Now I have to live up to my end so that [livejournal.com profile] joyeuse13 doesn't hurt me. ;-)

LEAVE ME A COMMENT AND....
1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] rolanni

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year. However, [livejournal.com profile] rolanni did three of each, and being Welsh, I shall follow suit.

Notable Events

1595 - William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet is probably first performed.
1891 - Liliuokalani is proclaimed Queen of Hawaii, its last monarch.
1929 - The Seeing Eye Dog organization is formed.

Births

1737 - Thomas Paine, American patriot (d. 1809)
1860 - Anton Chekhov, Russian writer (d. 1904)
1880 - W.C. Fields, American actor (d. 1946)

Deaths

1676 - Tsar Alexis I of Russia (b. 1629)
1696 - Ivan V, Russian tsar;reigned from (1582-1589)
1730 - Tsar Peter II of Russia (b. 1715)

it's apparently a rough day for Russian tsars!

catching my breath and then back to work. Following [livejournal.com profile] selenite, not sure if this is just right but it is at least not totally wrong.

INFP - the Healer
Your Type is 40% Extroverted, 12% Observant, 31% Logical and 37% Structured

You are more introverted than extroverted. You are more intuitive than observant, you are more feeling based than thinking based, and you prefer to go with the flow rather than having a plan. Your type can best be summarized by the word "Healer", which belongs to the larger group of idealists. You have a capacity for caring that is deeper than most. You strive for unity, are fascinated by the battles between good and evil, and can be something of an idealist. Only 1% of the population shares your type.

As a romantic partner, you are usually supportive and nuturing, however, you have a high need for individuality. Harmony is extremely important to you as you are very affected by conflict and tension, which also makes you resist confronting your partner directly about problems. When you get angry, you usually blame yourself, rather than your partner. You can also be stubborn and unyielding when you feel you are being criticized or mistreated. You feel the most appreciated when your partner listens to you carefully. You need to be understood. You need to hear your partner express their feelings, the more often, the better.

Your group summary: idealists (NF)
Your type summary: INFP

Okay, my friends page has passed that magical and undefinable number of enough people doing this that I don't feel stupid doing it myself.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a spatula, either way.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

From [livejournal.com profile] marymont and [livejournal.com profile] selenite - and it's [livejournal.com profile] selenite's fault. I said I wouldn't do this, because I share a first name with a very unpleasant national figure, so no point in googling anything on my first name. [livejournal.com profile] selenite suggested I do an advanced search and eliminate "dr". Then I started giggling at the results.

Directions: Type "(your name) is" , (with the quotes) into a Google search, cut-and-paste the first 10 responses that work. Just pull the answers right out of the excerpt google shows you, don't click the link and search around. The only rule is that each one has to start with "(your name) is".

Only 10? Nah, forget that, the last two are too much fun to leave out.
