of car repair and baking
Aug. 13th, 2004 08:24 pmIt's been a reasonably productive day. We took the Shadow to the transmission place, and went and had lunch at Chickfila so Maggie and Brendan could play at the nice playplace. Turned out later it's not the transmission, it's the starter, so now the Shadow is at Pep Boys and they're going to replace the starter.
I've been cooking today - there's beef stroganoff in the crockpot, which will be ready for a late dinner after
selenite comes home from the CUUPS meeting. If the meeting ends in a reasonable amount of time, and he gets home when we hope. Otherwise presumably I will be eating it alone. I had a teatime snack earlier to tide me over until then. I also tried again on feeding Jamie mashed bananas - which had gone over with mixed success last time. He seemed to like it, and I had no trouble getting him to eat it all. I'm not trying to wean him instantly, but getting him onto more solids sounds like a good idea to me. I REALLY need a 2nd highchair, though. Putting Maggie into the stepstool at the table just leads to a long game of her trying to get into everything on the table and ignoring what she's supposed to eat.
I also baked up a batch of GFCF snickerdoodle cookies for Brendan, and there's a loaf of GFCF French bread in the oven right now. Hopefully he'll eat it. He's been bugging me for bread on his diet, and I'm going to try again, even though last time I bought him some he turned up his nose and wouldn't eat it. Even doing it from a mix is not cheap, so I've hesitated to try again. But he's being better about more varied food. He ate some "Brendan-pizza" earlier, then a snickerdoodle, then some applesauce.
