Felted bag experiments planned.
Aug. 23rd, 2004 11:48 amOkay, has anybody used the patterns at the KnitKit site, the Constant Companion and the other ones? I'm actually going to try doing some felted bags. I'm going to do her little freebie pattern first, the Special Companions one, to try out felting for the first time.
I'm looking at some of the other bags, and trying to figure out which is closest to what I want to achieve, and I was thinking that I'm probably going to have to combine elements from several of them and sorta design my own pattern from those elements to get what I want. And add more pockets, lots of pockets.
I told this to
selenite recently, and he then challenged me to tell him the last time when I was knitting something and actually followed the pattern completely, not counting anything that I had written the pattern for. I tried. I kept trying to think of SOMETHING that I'd followed the pattern precisely without altering it to make it more what I wanted it to be. I kept coming up with something I'd knitted and saying hey, there was THIS - um, no, actually, I changed the heel design. Wait, there was the PUPPET - no, hm, I'm changing the way the tongue is done. And it kept going on and on like this.
selenite was highly amused. I think that when I did Maggie's Yule stocking last year, I may have followed the whole pattern. Maybe.
Anyway, anyone who has done some of those felted bags from that site, please comment and let me pick your brains about them?
