the joys of a yard
Apr. 19th, 2004 12:21 pmWe went outside for a while today. I've wanted to do it early enough in the day that there'd still be shade in the backyard, as recently we haven't gotten out much. Turned out to be an unnecessary precaution, as it's a very gray day. Well, I suppose they say you can sunburn anyway.

bkseiver made for Maggie on the ground with Jamie on the boppy and me sitting next to him with my knitting. He seemed to enjoy it. I'd tossed a croched blanket over him to keep him warm in the cool breeze. (Yeah, Nana made that one, too!) Maggie picked a flower for the first time, and brought it to me, and was so enthused that she went around picking flowers (dandelion, mostly, one other yellow flower I didn't know). She brought one over for Jamie to smell. Well, she mashed it into his nose, anyway. He had such a quizzical look on his face. Maggie ran around and investigated and enjoyed herself, despite having found the foot-sized hole in that back quadrant of the yard - over she went, and lost her shoe in it. Watching her hop around trying to get the shoe back on by herself while standing up was amusing. She did eventually succeed. We stayed out about 40 minutes, I think, I neglected to bring my watch.
