I found out this morning that there's a Main Street Arts Festival going on in downtown Fort Worth. I found out because I haven't bothered to get off the Bookcrossing email notification thing yet, and someone released a large load of books there this morning. So I looked it up. And what the heck,
selenite and the kids and I went to it this afternoon. We had a pretty good time. Had the kids in the double stroller, although Maggie walked part of it. Looked at various booths as we wandered up and down Main St. They tend more towards art and less towards the crafts side, unlikes the similar festival I used to go to in Baton Rouge, which had more stuff I'd actually want to go home with. But that's okay.
Maggie was given a book from the library's booth. I saw a lovely booth with those wrap pants like
joyeuse13 has told me about, and they had some in a lovely purple gauze with embroidery and beadwork - I covted them for lingerie, but of course they wouldn't have my size. I think I may look for them online more (or encourage
selenite to do so).
When we were wandering off to a side area to find quiet bathrooms, we found an area for displays - basically a cruise line with an inflated theater, and they sponsored a playmobile tent just next to it, with those padded puzzle piece flooring things under it and the area fenced off and filled with toys, and lounge chairs in the shade in front of it for parents. WHEEE. We sat and rested for a while, well I did, as Jamie kept wanting to try running out of the tent at full speed and
selenite would have to stop him and turn him around. At first he just ran around inside exclaiming loudly, he was too excited to play with any one item. Maggie enjoyed it too. I sat and knit for a bit. I filled out the form for the drawing to win a cruise, what the heck, I'd love to go on a cruise.
It was cloudy, and we were busy and forgetful, so even though we were outside during today's partial eclipse, we missed it. Oh well.
I may want to go back Sunday afternoon, there's an interesting lineup of dance groups and drum music at one particular stage. It's tempting to sweettalk
selenite into taking the kids and just taking my knitting and a bottle of water and spending the afternoon at that stage.
We went to pick up my framed pictures (the ones I'd gotten at ConDFW), and then had dinner out afterwards. The whole day has been fun. We don't get to go out and Do Stuff all that often, and this feels like we snagged the chance to go have a spontaneous family date. It was great.
