Two Jamie advances.

Yesterday evening, I was cooking in the kitchen, and looked over into the living room to see a cute little playlet acted out.

Jamie sat down on Maggie's potty, fully clothed. He sat there a moment, then stood up, turned around, and looked down into the (of course empty) pot. He then clapped his hands and made a soft YAY sound. Then he went around behind the potty, knocked the whole thing down, and pulled the pot part out.

He's getting the routine of potty training down even though he's too young for it himself. That's peer pressure at its best.

Also last night after storytime, we just patted the pillow a lot and told him "night-night! bedtime!" and then left him and Maggie in the big bed, rather than putting him in the crib. We did close the door to the nursery as a precaution. I checked on them later, and they were both asleep on the bed, albeit he was sleeping mostly towards the bottom at a weird angle. But that's okay.

He did wake up a bit after midnight and come in to nurse and sleep with me, but it's a start.

I did some running about today. Not to the Y - I realized I probably shouldn't swim until the puncture wound in the sole of my foot heals. I'll try to go to the fitness class Thursday. The kids got to play outside for a while this morning, then breakfast, and Jamie's nap. After his nap we headed out. We went by the library, dropped off some things and picked up more.

Then off to the LYS, Simpatico Yarn out in Bedford. Bwahahaha, the joy of an excuse to go to a yarn store. :-D The primary excuse was to look for maroon sock yarn, which they didn't have in stock any more. Bother. (But that means I STILL have an excuse to do more looking!) They did have lots of other colors, and I got myself two balls of silvery gray Lang Jawohl, I'm going to make that for myself. I think in a diamond lace pattern. About time I had more stuff in my sock drawer that a) I really like the pattern (so so so DONE with the SixSoxKnitalong) and that b) isn't blue/purple. I haven't tried Lang Jawohl yet, either, so that's good.

They don't carry Euroflax, maybe next year. She does carry Tahki cotton classic, yum. Only had one skein of purple, I'd need 8 for the project I have in mind, so when I'm getting closer to doing that one I'll call her to order it. Hope it won't take too long. She was saying a lot of the yarn companies seem to be relegating the small shops to last priority, and she's having to regretfully give up on Brown Sheep. Bother, I was hoping to use their Cotton Fleece yarn for something relatively soon.

Oh, Mom, I talked to her about the sweater and the Berrocco Glace - she'd seen your post on KnitU. She recommends this stuff called Classic Elite yarn Flash. 100% cotton, same weight as the ribbon yarn (but not a ribbon), comes in 93 yds for $3.80/skein, machine wash (although she recommends hand wash to keep the sheen), comes in two-color mixes, there was a blue/green one I think you'd have liked. Lemme see if I can find pictures that don't suck too bad. here's one, ooh, it comes in coordinating solid colors, too.

I also got myself a ball of fingering weight cotton yarn called Mandarin Petit, in a lovely soft blue, for a lace cap I'm making for myself. I need more caps and snoods and such to help me get through the hair-growing-out misery.

I am enjoying going to Simpatico - everybody's been friendly, they are very kid friendly and have a basket of toys and books, and are patient with Maggie's curiosity. I was put off the first couple of times because I was intimidated by the store dog - a shame, she was a Keeshond and I like those, but she was a kinda pushy barky one, and I had to deal with the kids' being uneasy, too. She hasn't been there lately. I hope nothing bad has happened to her, hopefully she just has somewhere better to spend days. But it is easier for me there now. There's always people sitting and working at the tables. I know people get together for evening sessions, too, and I wish I could go, but it would need [livejournal.com profile] selenite to work a MUCH earlier schedule to be home for the kids early enough.

Heck, if I'm recommending them, lemme put in their link http://www.simpaticoyarns.com/

Then we went home, by surface streets because it was rush hour and the freeways were clogging. I'm pleased that I'm getting to know so many surface street routes.

I'm pleased to say Maggie was in panties for the outing, and stayed dry. She's been in panties and staying dry since Sunday afternoon, including sleeping. Now having said this, I expect an accident momentarily, but it's still good progress.
