Help me out here, o flist.

I am thinking of putting something together for myself here - and there's a spot for a good tagline. I want something that FITS. There's spaces in the rest of it for other info, this would be a good spot for an interesting quote or funny tagline, something just right. Suggest things?

Sorry, I'm not at my most coherent writing this, I'm totally drained after yesterday. Which I may post about in a bit, once I get my brain running a little better.

So, suggestions, please. A good quote or tagline that sums up a lot about me.

Right, the other half of what tired me out yesterday. Fun stuff, though. We were invited to a new friend's birthday party. So I drove partway down and met [livejournal.com profile] selenite coming from work, then we went down to the house. We had a great time. She had several gaming friends there, including a couple with a 2 year old and a wee baby. Maggie fell asleep in the car - ha, that's what you get for refusing your nap, dear girl - so she slept through most of the party on the hostess's bed. Jamie had fun with the 2 year old, though, and so did Maggie when she eventually woke up.

It was amazingly enough a fairly babysafe place, despite having no kids of their own yet, they've had practice with the visiting 2 year old. This is just amazing to me, one of the things I love about Texas is how just about everywhere we go tends to feel so much more kidfriendly. There were various times when Jamie was wandering and playing with the little girl, and I was sitting at the table chatting and working on my crochet, and I couldn't see him just then, and that was fine. Wow.

We ate, we talked, [livejournal.com profile] selenite got to run another testplay of his card game - and they loved it. I got to hold the baby for a while, that got me a very strange look from Jamie. Maggie admired the baby. The kids played running whacking games with balloons. Wheee.

The father of the other kids apparently runs gaming, but hasn't been able to lately, and they live in a small place. I pointed out we have a larger place with a gaming-friendly kitchen overlooking a babyproofed living room, and suggested we should join forces at some point. It would get more playmates for the kids, and more gaming for [livejournal.com profile] selenite, this would be good.

We had a really good time. But man, was I tired out. Having to drop [livejournal.com profile] selenite off to drive his car home and take over driving the van the rest of the way home was all I could manage. I'm peopled out for a few days, too. Gotta recharge the batteries so I can go enjoy Conestoga this weekend. Wheee.

Music!

So yesterday I stopped at Barnes and Noble for a shopping trip. I wandered into the CDs/DVDs section to look for something for the kids, which they didn't have.

But the music they were playing caught my attention. It sounded like something Sam Gamgee would sing after the 2nd round at the Green Dragon, and was nicely bouncy. I asked what they were playing, turned out to be a Nickel Creek album from 2000. Yeah, I live under a rock. I stuck the barcode under the headphone thingy, and listened to samples. Ok, one of the songs I vaguely remembered hearing on the radio. Bluegrass, apparently, it'd been sounding celtic to me - I guess bluegrass is what happened when the celtic emigrated here some generations back.

Anyway, I bought it, rare though it is for me to buy music. Here's a link to a song sample of what caught my attention. I think I shall learn it and sing it to the kids.

[livejournal.com profile] selenite came home, took over the kids mid-dinner, and sent me up for a nap. It was a fitful, in-and-out, disturbing dreams kind of nap, but it helped.

While I was napping, in addition to the standard care of the kids, he got a load of dishes running, and got Jamie bathed and dressed in clean clothes.

He peeked in on me at the kids' bedtime, to see if I wanted to do storytime with them. Oh yes I did. Jamie was so marvelously gleeful to see me, giggling and doing a little dance at the side of the bed. Okay, he wanted to nurse, but it still made me feel good. We had a family cuddle while he nursed, then storytime.

And I came downstairs to find [livejournal.com profile] selenite had also baked some chocolate chip cookies for us.

He's marvelous. I'm going to marry him. Wait, I did that already. Well, he's marvelous.
