Right, I had plans to update on the weekend... I suppose I can still dash off a summary.
Friday morning I was planning to work on quilting the wallhanging thing I'm doing from VBS.
kattelyn's sewing machine totally defeated me. Perhaps later.
Saturday afternoon
selenite and I took the kids to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. We found a wooded area with fencing between us and the road, and encouraged them to go run around, look at things, whack trees with sticks, all the typical kid stuff. We were going to go explore a new boardwalk garden area, but a Hummer limo (ugh) had pulled up and disgorged various people going down there clearly to take pictures, so we skipped that. We went into the main building for a restroom stop, saw fish in an aquarium, and then paid the small fee to go into the conservatory. That was interesting - rainforest plants, and a waterfall and fish and such. We saw both a coffee tree and a chocolate tree - I took my hat off and paid reverence at that one!
Sunday was a long day. Early church, then Rally Day for Sunday school starting. Maggie's new teachers are Mary and Emily - poor Maggie now has to differentiate between three Marys significant to her at church. Jamie's teacher is Ginny, who was Maggie's VBS teacher, has two little boys about the ages of our kids, and turned out to be a special ed teacher, so that should be good.
We were back at church that afternoon for Ryan's ordination - he was the intern when we started here, and has now been called to a church in Grand Prarie, so had his ordination at Calvary. It was wonderful and beautiful and the music was amazing and it was LONG! The kids' godparents sat with us and Maggie was mostly with them. Jamie sat with
selenite and I and was remarkably good. Pictures are here:
http://www.calvaryftw.org/archive/MillsOrdination.htmI found a couple of the pics from the ordination that I can see me in.
http://www.calvaryftw.org/photos/millsordination/mills14.jpgYou can see the row of people down the center, and the row of people down the right aisle - I'm actually in the clump of people between them, in front of the first pew. I'm in the brown skirt and cream top, with my hair in a ponytail, and I have Maggie up on my left shoulder, I can just see her blue dress and her ponytail. There's a woman in a gold-yellow blouse just to the right of me, and to the right of her is Maggie and Bruce's godfather, in a blue shirt.
