Sock Wars started on Friday.
fordprfct and I were both obsessively checking our email. That afternoon I checked her blog - and she said they were about to go up. Shortly after that her blog said there were email problems due to the hurricane that hit Ireland. So she posted the pattern online. Later I checked and had gotten my dossier, and she posted on the blog who has who, since she can't get all the emails out.
So I have BristolKnitter, in the UK. *headdesk* On the bright side, she's a UK size 5, which is a US size 7. So small feet, at least compared to me.
fordprfct and I did not get each other, and as best as we can tell we're in totally different parts of the list.
I cast on the first sock Friday afternoon - and finished the 2nd on Saturday night late, at FenCon in the filk circle. Wheee!
I tried to FedEx them Sunday - but it wouldn't get picked up until Monday night, and I couldn't find out what the price would be, so I hesitated to do it. Today I went to the post office and sent them by Global Express mail. Pretty weird having to sign the thing that avers that you are not sending anything dangerous through the mail - well, not literally...
selenite just got home, and I came into the living room to greet him. I got a hug, and saw he was holding a small padded envelope-type-package. He said it was for me, with a solemn look. Oh noooo! My Sock of Doom, I was dead! Then he turned it around and grinned - nope, the replacement buttons from Three Feathers Pewter. Whew. (although darn, it'd be an impressive knitter who managed to get them delivered today.)
