Bookstore moment
Dec. 19th, 2006 08:00 pmI had a Rough Day today, involving too much driving through the metroplex in foggy rain and traffic jams with accidents, being poked five time with needles and bruised twice, etc.
On the way home I stopped to get some groceries, and darn it, I walked into Borders and got myself a new book. I'd been saying no, I'll see about library, maybe wait for paperback, but dang it, I needed a reward for coping with the day.
I found it after a bit, but noticed what seemed to be a mis-shelving - and since I've had to take Borders to task in the past for shelving Lois McMaster Bujold under "M", I figured I'd mention it on the way up. (They weren't doing it this time - but then, there were NO Bujold hardbacks, darn it.)
So I say to the cashier, "Did you know that Salvatore is shelved between Flint and Goodlkind?" The adjacent cashier looked over and grinned and said "Well, we don't like him very much." We both chuckled, and then she explained that actually, it's because most of his stuff is in some series - Forbidden something? It started with F, anyway - and they shelve it under that.
I was amused.
