Calling costumers
Mar. 2nd, 2007 08:56 amOkay, I've decided I want the outfit of the girl in the greenish dress that we've seen in the last two Girl Genius strips. I like it in general, and I want it as a con costume. (Because I just like obscure things as con costumes. Last time I did a con costume it was Widow Caria of Palma from Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold. Honestly, people who have read the book are probably going "who?" Can I help it if she wrote the character to look like me and the outfit sounded cool and easy? Clearly I am doomed to leave the recognizable, main name characters to others.)

I think I'd look good in it. And hey, we do have a name for the character, so I can be obscure and confusing.
Seriously, I want this outfit, including hat. Not until after the baby's born, of course.
Notes for costumers - I'm quite busty, shaped like a very large hourglass that's somewhat run down. Well, I was pre-pregnancy, and I expect I will be again. I'm generally about a 3X. I don't have a corset that'd fit, and doubt I'd really want to be corseted at a con, so some shaping in the bodice over a soft bra would have to do. I have a serious preference towards nonsynthetic fabrics.
Any costumers wanna talk commission work with me at some point on this?

Washer arrived
Mar. 2nd, 2007 11:00 amOkay, the washer has been set up and the installation dude left. Which was good, since then I could finally have breakfast.
We have a Frigidaire front-loader.
I'm feeling a bit uneasy about it all now. He'd unplugged the modem, which goes into the big plug there and has a sorta plug-through thing on the back that another plug can go into - but it only takes 2-prong, and the new washer is 3-prong. I pointed out that the modem is ALSO my phone service, so it's plugged back in, and the washer isn't. Aparently it needs some sort of adaptor thing that we'll have to plug into the back of the plug-through thing and then plug the washer into that.
This is me being a bit intimidated.
Also, I hadn't realized just how LOW it was going to be. Yes, Maggie will be able to help with it more easily - but for the rest of the pregnancy, at least, I'm going to have a bitch of a time using it.
Not quite such a worry about not having it plugged in right now, since I wouldn't be starting any loads right away anyway - we did some laundry over at
fordprfct's house, and although
selenite did pack up the leftover dirty laundry last night when we came home, I don't think he got the detergent. Love, pick some up on the way home?
EDIT: The washer can plug into the wall just fine. Just NOT if the modem is plugged in first. And I do not want to give up my computer connection and my phone hookup!
