Maggie's spring dresses
Mar. 26th, 2007 02:39 pmMaggie is a very happy and lucky little girl who's getting a lot of chances to indulge her love of dressing up this year.
( Dragonfly dress )
First, the dragonfly dress. We have a friend,
macgyvergal who works at a local Hobby Lobby. Some time ago I'd seen one of the sample dresses they have hanging up in the fabric section, made to encourage you to buy a particular pattern and fabric. Well, I'm no seamstress, but I wanted to buy that dress for Maggie. Dragonfly pattern on the picture. I asked her about it, and she said she'd see what she could do. It was a loooong time before that dress came off display, but bless her, she remembered.
Maggie adores it. The dress has a matching hat and purse, which have clear buttons with a dragonfly painted on them. She wore the outfit to church Sunday. People kept complimenting her. She'd tell them "this dress is from our friend Jackie!"
Since Sunday was actually a partly-cloudy day with some sun coming out, we went out and took pictures under one of the pear trees in the front yard.
( Easter dress )
We already knew she had another dress coming to her. Her Nana,
bkseiver, was making her an Easter dress. I knew very little about this dress - not even the color, although I had some guesses. It arrived today.
Wow. Oh wow. Cinderella can go to the ball. Or perhaps it can be that Miss Scarlett can go to the barbeque? Either way, our little princess will be impressive.
It's sleeveless, and full-length, to the ground. Primary fabric pink print with flowers and ribbons. Front panel on the bodice and insert in the front of the skirt is a soft sage green. Wide gold ribbon with edges of flowers at the waist. Lined in a white fabric with white calico flower print on it. Interlined with tulle so that the skirt flares out - one layer from waist to floor, a second layer from maybe knee to floor. Zipper up the back with a hook and eye at the top.
Just - wow.
Today it's raining quite a bit, so we had to make do with indoor pics.
She has her pink ribbon shoes on under that, the same ones as in the previous picture, but you can't really tell. I think the dress goes nicely with the Easter hat we'd found for her when we got the shoes.
Amazingly, she has a *third* pretty new spring dress, too - a white/green/pink tiered linen dress I bought her some weeks ago that she hasn't worn yet, with a little matching bag. Maybe she wears that next Sunday, for Palm Sunday. And of course I should get the pink crumpets dress back out again soon, I'm sure it'll still fit reasonably well.
Very happy little girl. Here's a link to the gallery with a couple other pics of those 2 dresses - http://pics.livejournal.com/celticdragonfly/gallery/00026zsf?page=1
