Baby hat and pattern dither

I just finished a newborn baby hat, of a pattern I made up myself.

I wrote it up, and am debating whether I should submit it to one of the online knitting magazines. It seems awfully simple to me, but I keep being told my idea of simple is more complicated than most knitters. Karl says it came out with a very nice effect, and I should stop calling it simple and call it elegant. Trouble is, of course, that if I am going to submit it, I can't put up the picture or the pattern to get others' opinion...
