In praise of Heyer

I put this on the Bujold list, in response to comments about Georgette Heyer's work being "fluffy", and selenite asked me to toss it up here.

I *like* them being a bit fluffy. They're like good candy for me. If Sir A.P. Herbert will forgive me:

I like them fluffy--I know it appalls--
With dry witty banter, and society balls,
With new bon mots flying, and duels 'neath the moon,
Nonpareils sighing, "pray marry me soon."
Not bloody, or stuffy, but sure to enthrall.
Yes fluffy, just fluffy, with no angst at all.
