The backyard is seriously becoming Bird Central. Especially doves. There are starting to be doves in such concentrations that I'm getting to watch dove social interactions. THAT one is One Pushy Dove. There's 7 of them out there right now, several chickadees, and a finch. We had a pair of redwinged blackbirds earlier.

I hear the coo coo coo of the doves a lot. Every once in a while I like to walk out the back door, and hear the scattering cry they make as they all fly off. Although I notice some of them just fly to the fence or the roof and wait to see if I'll go back in.

Wish I had some way to mark them, I'd like to learn more about the social interactions.

Of course, sometimes I wish I had a dovecot and a way to tame 'em enough to start developing some crockpot recipes. They're PLUMP birds.

And I'm going to need to get more birdseed soon, they're going through it.

I do believe Texas has an official Dove season - careful not to crank up the crock pot out of season!

Hmm, I wonder when it is. I think they'd be nice in a cream soup with stuffing.

Although the trickier question would be how to catch them.

I told Karl I'd be fine with the traditional gender division of labor; he can clean 'em.
