Ah, this one needs the chart
May. 3rd, 2005 04:47 pmI figured out how to make the lace knitting go better. I fixed what I'd done wrong yesterday, managed to fix it by tinking one row and then doing some drop-and-fix, rather than tinking three rows as I'd feared I'd have to. Then I found out that what I need to do is look at the chart, not the written directions. Usually I'm more of a written direction type of person, not heavy on charts. But they decided to make the written directions "simplified" as much as possible - which is stupid, because then their 8 stitch repeat keeps MOVING every row and then I have to muck about with my markers and it's crazy. But looking at the chart is very easy. I'm still mentally translating it into verbal directions as I go, because that's just the way I think. But I'm translating them as they should have been translated, and my stitch repeat is apparently more complex, but it doesn't MOVE. So that last row was a lot better.
I'm still not getting much done per day, though.
