Blocking, I hope

So this afternoon I attempted to block the knitted doily I did recently. It may sound strange that I don't do blocking all the time, but most of what I've worked on doesn't need it. Socks, you grab 'em out of the dryer and stick 'em on your feet. Anyway, the lace doily needed it. I got my old bobbin lace pillow, unused these days until the kids are a lot older (all those pins!), and blocked it wet on that, spraying it with spray starch after I had it pinned down. I hope I did it right.

I can expect to do okay with anything small enough to fit on my bobbin lace pillow. I have NO idea how I'd manage significantly larger items.
