I may be redefining how I do computer work here.
I have lower back problems - except I don't usually use that phrase, because when most people talk about lower back problems, they mean something higher. Closer to say that I have tail problems. I have to work to keep my weight off my sacrum, and am always having troubles. I have an ergonomic desk chair, but even that makes me hurt after a while.
I'm actually kneeling on the floor in front of the desk this morning. I'll have to sit to nurse Jamie. But kneeling, there's no pressure on the sacrum at all. Trouble is, my knees hurt. I think I need some sort of cushioned kneeler thing.
I'm trying to figure out what I need to get. I suspect I need to hunt around online, but I'm not sure where to look and what keywords to use. It should be cushy yet supportive, and it's gotta be fine to have around the kids. I'm dreading that I'll get something light and have to spend most of my time chasing it around retrieving it from the kids, but that may be necessary.
Suggestions, o flist?

Some of the cheap knock-offs are quite horrible however--my mother and I both have had bad experiences with those in the past. I would strongly recommend testing out anything you buy (especially for sideways wobbliness, which seems to be an indicator of how well it will stand up). There is usually at least one store in any major metropolitan area that will have kneeling chairs to test out (usually advertises as a comfort store, or a back relief or ergonomic furniture place) -- try out the chairs in the store, then search on Froogle for the one you want to see if you can find a better deal. Or cruise thrift shops and hope to luck out like I did--I almost fell over when I saw it mine in the store and realized they had no clue what it was or how much it was worth. I've been using mine as a computer chair for about 8 months now and it is great.

Karl found this one - and this one looks a bit more promising. But even that I think I could end up with weight on the sacrum.
Actually KNEELING on something on the floor, with my body straight from shoulders to knees, there's no WAY I can put weight on the sacrum.
