Player piano
Jul. 3rd, 2005 08:02 pmYesterday I had someone over for the first time, and in the course of the house tour showed off my player piano and played a roll. Too much these days that tends to be the only time it gets played. So today while
selenite and I were in the music room half of the library discussing lighting, I sat down and started playing. He wandered off to get work done after the first one, but Maggie was begging for more from the living room, so I played another. Repeat, until I'd played 5 rolls. Nice little musical workout, that is.
I need to play it more often. I really need to get more rolls for it, too. That would give me more incentive. Plus you learn about neat music that way. I didn't know the musical fun that was Thomas "Fats" Waller until I got this player piano, and several rolls played by him came with it, as well as "Two Hearts in Waltz Time", a roll I love with lyrics in both English and German.

Date: 2005-07-04 05:55 pm (UTC)He's a Minneapolis fan, he and his wife have a large piano roll collection. They host a Minn-StF Meeting two or three times a year, and many piano rolls get played.
I've forgotten exactly why he doesn't more closely associate his LJ with any other identity signs - contact me directly and I'll pass along his e-mail address.
