Maggie's first dentist's visit! She was so good about it. She liked the attention.
The dentist's assistant turned on the bright light to show Maggie, then offered her sunglasses in a choice of colors. Maggie picked pink. Ironically, they never did turn the bright light on after that. She loves having sunglasses, though.
Here she is getting her teeth polished for the first time. She was very good about it. The lady said she'd had a number of children that day - I was apparently her only adult patient - and she said Maggie was the best behaved of all of them.
Maggie even was willing to try the suction doohickey in her mouth, and was fine with it.
They gave her a battery powered spinning toothbrush, and she LOVED it.
She also got a regular toothbrush with a suction cup end so it can be stood up on the counter, the previously mentioned sunglasses, some stickers, and a coupon to go get a free soft serve ice cream cone at Sonic. She made out like a little bandit. This was great for her, she's ALL about the presents for Maggie.
I got a talk from the dentist about what things are bad for kids' teeth, apparently I'm doing very well. Juice bad - right, it's a rare treat, check. Hard candies and sticky candies are right out. Chocolate is fine. Yay. He says fruit chews are AWFUL, said he didn't know who came up with that - well, he said, it must have been a dentist, because they're terrible for the teeth. She's never had one, and she won't get any. So we're doing well.
They said she had beautiful teeth and everything looked great. We'll take her back in six months. They're all for introducing her to the procedures gently and gradually. Maybe next time we'll teach her to lie back for stuff.
