Weekend catchup

Wow, a busy weekend with my parents. I am way behind on computer stuff.

They got here Friday, brought prezzies - pralines (yum!), sock knitting magazines and more YARN! for me. Cute beach towels for the kids - Maggie's been draping hers around herself and having a lovely time - and [livejournal.com profile] phoenixsinger sent a beanie baby kitty for Maggie and an adorable bear for Jamie. Jamie's bear is dressed formally, and [livejournal.com profile] selenite named it Simon.

Saturday they went off to get their cat. Which ended up NOT being Bubba - as [livejournal.com profile] bkseiver commented to my Bubba Name post:
When we got to see Bubba, we found that Siamese Rescue had been misled: when his papers arrived from Abeline, it turned out he is 11 years old! Now, he was truly a sweety, and seemed to take an instant like to me. But our new cat needed to fit into a feline family of 2 and 4 year old girls. Not Bubba. We chose Casper, a flame point Siamese. And yes, it suits him. He has pale blue-white eyes, and lovely markings. "The friendly ghost"? You couldn't find a more out-going cat. Happy endings all around. I suspect Grandmeowmy (the rescue manager) may adopt Bubba herself.
They came home with Casper, having to drive through smoke from a prairie fire to get back. I got to go upstairs and play with him. What a marvelous outgoing friendly young cat! His birthday is the day before Jamie's due date, so he's just about Jamie's age.

We had gaming last night, and they headed out this morning and are safely back home. Maybe [livejournal.com profile] bkseiver will post about what happened with Casper and Torie, that was amusing.

I spent most of this afternoon getting Cave Time, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] selenite and I'm desperately trying to catch up on the knitting I've gotten so far behind on. I'm ready to kitchener the 2nd of the lavender cotton lace socks that I started a week and a half ago, then I need to finish some other projects. I went through some craft books and magazines that were given to me, with [livejournal.com profile] bkseiver, shared some with her, and found a kid's sweater pattern I want to do for Maggie, probably do a variant for Jamie. So much to knit, so little time!

I may get some pics posted later, we'll see. Not of this weekend, other stuff.

Casper vs. Torie, round 1

I brought Casper in the door nearest the guest room, and deposited him
there. Bob went to greet our fur girls, Minky and Torie, as he does on his return from work each afternoon. Minky was duly greeted, but NO TORIE! A search of the household was negative - NO TORIE!. A search of the guest room yielded Torie under the queen size bed, hidden by dust ruffle. She was smack in the middle and NOT coming out! Casper was willing to give it a go, so he ventured under. Mega hissy fit on Torie's part! It took Bob on one side of the bed, Pat, our son-in-law at the foot, and me on the other side to nudge Torie out. Actually, it took twice, because once I grabbed her, but she was stronger and pulled herself back to the middle of the bed!

By the way, Casper is great at catching things with his paws, but he hasn't learned how to then retract his claws. He catches is fuzz ball, but then must shake his paw in the air to get rid of it. I know you're not supposed to laugh AT a cat, but...
