Still pretty sick
Aug. 22nd, 2005 07:13 pmWe're still pretty sick. Past the worst ugliest parts of it, I think. But this isn't something we're brushing off quickly.
bkseiver sent us links to an article about an outbreak of cryptosporidium, and said it sounded like that was what we were dealing with, by the symptoms. I think she's right. I did a google news search, and wow, there's outbreaks all over, Louisiana, Edmonton CA, NY, KS, IL, KY, OR, yeek.
Apparently this is going to last a couple of weeks, and "the symptoms may go in cycles in which you may seem to get better for a few days, then feel worse again before the illness ends." Whee. Yep, that's happening. And we have diddly for energy. Both of us are wiped out and sleepy all the time.
selenite napped for a lot of the weekend, and I got a nap this evening. He's back to work, although I'm not sure it's such a great idea. He didn't work a full day today.
Right now there's nothing we can do about it but hang in there, and just try to gather the energy to do the bare minimums necessary. The place is a mess, and I can't do anything about it.
selenite just went out to pick up sandwiches because we're not up for cooking, and we're overdue for a grocery run anyway. I'm not getting online as much as I normally would. Some days I've been too sick and wiped out to knit. It's wreaked havoc with my ambitious plans to read lots and lots of new books this year - I'm mostly not up to new books, some days I'm not up to reading at all, some days just comfort rereading, and I'm not always even reading the whole book - I'm keeping a list of books read this year, but I don't think I'm going to bother updating it for a while.
So if I'm a wet blanket these days, don't always respond to emails and such, forgive me - I'll try to get to it when I can, depending on how I'm doing that day.

Date: 2005-08-23 04:10 am (UTC)We are putting in water filters. We replaced the overdue filter in the fridge, and Karl signed up for a program where they just ship you a new one every 6 months. We've put water filters on the kitchen faucet and the one sink we use in our bathroom.
Get well soon...
