Memory meme

Okay, my friends page has passed that magical and undefinable number of enough people doing this that I don't feel stupid doing it myself.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a spatula, either way.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

I remember the look of awe and delight on your face when people came up with some pretty amazing "fairy godmother" wishes for Maggie at her baby blessing.

Please give her a hug from me.

I'm wondering, my dear, if you remember me. *grin* Eilidh here (from Darach), and I remember you sitting at your spinning wheel at events, and pulling your child around in a little wagon.

Well, we've never met - but I have an email (to LMB list) saved from a few years ago that recommended "The Importance of Being Earnest". The recommendation was followed; wife and I enjoyed it immensely.

I don't really remember any one occasion over others. I do remember going to you for advice on any number of occasions because I just didn't trust other people with the issue at hand. You always gave it; it wasn't always what I wanted to hear, but it was usually very helpful. I can't remember a time since I've grown up when you wouldn't stop what you were doing and give me a hug if I needed one.

I remember you and I dancing around the room with the kids to "The Sound of Music". I remember the Highland war and Elfquest, I think of you whenever I see the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I remember going to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame with you. And a holiday isn't quite right untill the halls have rung with your delightfully evil laugh. (Wonder where Jamie got it from?)

I remember reading you randomly cus I was bored and really being interested in your choice in books. :) I love people that read!

Sitting around your kitchen table, going absolutely gooey over chocolate (and white chocolate!) covered strawberries. Being far too silly and rather naughty and having a great time. I can't think of chocolate covered strawberries without thinking of you now :)

Since I'm too busy to keep much of a blog, this request won't be going up anywhere... oh well :)

Best recent one--coming into the recovery ward and seeing you look up at me. I'd been scared about the surgery and seeing there was a wonderful feeling of love and relief.

Oh, hearing that makes me feel good about myself. That's what I should be doing. Oh good.

Of course I remember you! And miss you. And Caid in general. Your LJ says you're playing in Lyondemere too now? How are things? Say hi to the Lyondemere people for us?

That little boy is now 9. He's currently living in Tujunga with the ex for a couple of years. He was here last in August.

I have two more, Maggie Rose is 3 1/2 and Jamie Kevin is fast approaching 2.

I will. I was telling the doula about that last week, and I showed her the bead necklace I'm holding for Maggie.

The good time we had the first time you came out to visit and we took you carolling and dancing and to a concert...and you kept saying, "I feel like Dorothy in Oz!"

The first time we met F2F, when I went to LA on a business trip mere days after giving myself a fairly serious ankle sprain. You welcomed the foreign cripple to your SCA dance practice *and* hosted a miniLoisCon for me.

I was in Oz! It was fun.

We didn't go dancing that time - you were too tired after carolling. We went to that Chinese restaurant and I tried foods I'd never tried before.

That whole trip was fun!

Oh, that's right. I was conflating the two trips in my head. But they were both wonderful!

I remember your posting to the 'creche about Maggie and how worried you were about her (because of Brendan). It makes me smile everytime you post pictures and stories about what a happy and capable little girl she's becoming.

Well, you've already used our major F2F encounter (the quilting conversation at FenCon this past September) when you commented in this meme over on MY blog.

You've come up with several fantastic links, though, that I've enjoyed reading here.

Well, lemme give you another "remember when", then - remember the filk room at Conestoga? I'd been planning to go to it after the Harry Potter book party was over, but on my way out I saw people discussing with the hotel staff about the room being locked. I figured oh well, that was it, and went up to my room to read a few pages and then drift off to sleep. Around 1 am Joe showed up at the door and said "We got the filk room open!" with a cheerful look on his face, and I ignored my desire for sleep and followed him there. You were there and singing. That weekend was when I heard you sing the song about the woodpecker they found in Arkansas, which amused me greatly. (The original of that was a favorite song of my first husband back when we were in high school) I had a hard time with pain during that con, kept having to shift from sitting to kneeling to lying on the floor even - thank goodness I can now hope for improvement post-surgery.

Next time strawberries are in season we'll have to do it again!

[identity profile] celticdragonfly.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's people that don't read that boggle my mind!

You just wait until the end of the year. I'm keeping track of every book I read this year, and adding on. I'll put it up after New Year's. I'm keeping track of what are new books and what are rereads, too. Lots of nonfiction this year, lots of heavy big scholarly books! Some fun fiction, too.

[identity profile] msminlr.livejournal.com 2005-11-05 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, at that time I had not yet connected "Laura from TexasFilk" to "Celticdragonfly from LJ"
And the Ivory-Bill song was practically the only thing I sang that whole weekend. I was coming down with an upper respiratory infection and my voice was already cracker-crumbs by Friday night.

Ah yes, the online multiple persona problem. (Attempts Kali-with-many-arms pose.) That's part of why I had those cards done, to clarify!

[identity profile] desert-vixen.livejournal.com 2005-11-06 02:31 am (UTC)(link)

Ah, let's see.

Our "wedding bears" are definitely high on the list (reminds me, I need to get a pair of little stands for them, as they're currently snuggled in on the bookshelf).

I also value your posts about being a mother, and the wisdom and thoughts that go along with that.
