knitting frustration

Why oh why do I never have the brains to write down things like what needle size I used on a project, when I'm always going off and changing things anyway? It isn't anything like the yarn that the pattern calls for, so I can't even judge by what size needle the pattern had.

Bother. I thought this was going to be a one-off, I guess.

I made a foo for my mom with one yarn - nothing like the one the pattern called for - then made another foo from a different yarn, also different from the pattern, and later decided to give it to a friend. Friend is now commissioning me to make a whole bunch of foos. Found out the yarn was discontinued, but finally found a seller with some, wheee.

So since the yarn is a different weight and type than the pattern, I can't use that. I'm guessing what I may have used before. If I get this sorted out, I will write it IN the book on the page with the pattern, I swear it.
