* I suppose I need to add a caveat about the magic stuff, because invariably someone comes along and says "But if you don't have rules, there are no limits on what magic can do and the story collapses!" Yes, I know. I don't want the author to tell me the rules, and I don't want the rules to be a major aprt of the - give me a sense of something awe-inspiring and unknowable, the dragonfly on the wing, and not dissected.
