Maggie's hairdo

I was just getting Maggie ready to go out, after baths for both kids, and was combing out her hair, and got inspired to try something.

Here's my girl with her hair UP!

Maggie's first french braid! Awwww.

It won't last, it's starting to come down a bit already. It's not quite long enough, really. But we're getting there!

It's also pretty sloppy, I'm out of practice with french braids and I've never tried doing it with hair quite so short, so fine, or on a head so wiggly.

We'll work on it.

Won't help with the wiggles, but it might help stay a wee bit longer if you do a reverse French braid, because the strands come in under the other strands and are held down a bit.

Good thought, I will try that next time.

That smile needs to be an icon. It's just dazzlingly beautiful.

Another trick to make it stay a bit better is to moisten the hair, either with water or (better) setting lotion. Also, using smaller chunks of hair with each pickup makes it tighter, although it also means more wriggle time.
