Crumpet gauge swatch 1

I estimated I'd need to go up one needle size as usual.

20 stitches = 3.25 inches.

It was supposed to equal 4 inches. Bother. So clearly size 6 won't do it. Sigh. I was afraid of that, the fabric looked too tight. So I'm getting slightly over 6 spi, where I should be getting 5.

Darn it, I don't think I *have* a pair of metal circs in size 7. I think I just have DPNs and a couple bamboo circs. [livejournal.com profile] bkseiver, weren't you advising me to avoid bamboo for this yarn?

Screw it, I'm grabbing yarn and needles for another dishcloth and I'll go sit outside with the kids. Back to this later today.

If you do have #8 metal circs, maybe try a swatch on them just in case?

I did the math, after checking with [livejournal.com profile] rlseiver to confirm that it needed an inverse proportion. It looks like I am more likely to need size 8 anyway. I do have 2 size 8 circs, that had been working on the braids cardigan, but since that's on hold until I order the bigger buttons, I can use them. One of them is VERY long and would be a pain to use for the whole thing - but I can use it to swatch with. So I've cast on a swatch and started it.

And then put it aside, because my shoulders hurt and I feel down.
