I'm thinking further on why I did *not* like the book Rainbows End by Vinge. (I did finally finish it.)

One of the protagonists used to write, but now that he's 'back' in health, he discovers that he's living in a world of constant input and distractions. And he can't write any more. (although it's implied that something has gone wrong in him to cause this)

I live in a world of constant input and distractions. And I can't write anymore, not anything worth writing. And it frustrates me.

At the moment, I'm finding even craft plans for VBS hard to get together over kid noise.

There is a reason why drabbles are useful little things. I can usually force one of them out of my head in the few moments that I have to think.

But yeah. Constant distractions -- it's not the input, so much as the distractions -- and interruptions make it very difficult to string two thoughts together, let alone the several thoughts required for actual writing. And it's frustrating.

Eventually, they grow up, I'm told... O:/

It's not so much stories - I never wrote those anyway. But I used to be able to write poetry, and letters, and to organize things.
