You Can Get Anything You Want, At Alice's Local Yarn Shop

Sock Wars starts Friday!

If Arlo Guthrie was singing about it:
And I went up there, I said, "Shrink, I want to knit. I mean, I wanna, I wanna knit. Knit. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see gloves and scarves and socks and skeins in my teeth. Bury myself in swatches. I mean knit, Knit, KNIT, KNIT." And I started jumpin' up and down yelling, "KNIT, KNIT," and he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumpin' up and down yelling, "KNIT, KNIT." And the sargent came over, handed me some DPNs, sent me down the hall, said, "You're our boy."

OMG That is TOO funny, both as a fledgling knitter and as a longtime Arlo Guthrie fan. I must say, though, I'm curious what the knitter's "Group W Bench" would be like *snerk*

"Sweater unravelers and sheep scarers. And sweater scarers and sheep unravelers."

Didn't know you knew Alice

Yeah, and we want to see those 5x7 glossy pictures, too! Ah, yes, Alice - takes me back to Michigan State days, when a coworker had SDS keaders sleeping on her livingroom floor in East Lansing.

Oh, of COURSE I know Alice! (Remember, Mom, I was a DJ. Apart from being a cool song, it makes a great bathroom break song.)

And Mom - they were 8x10 colored glossy photos.

Now, see, why have I never heard this story before? I just know there's more to it...

I was recently showing Animal House to [livejournal.com profile] fordprfct - we only got partway through it, but were enjoying it - and telling him yeah, I knew this well, and grew up with that attitude towards ROTC (including pronouncing it as a word, not letters) - and then I ended up marrying a ROTC scholar! My darling [livejournal.com profile] selenite is nothing like Niedermeyer, though!
