Monster-killer Maggie

It's been a week since we watched Hogfather, but Maggie's still talking about finding the monsters and killing them. Usually a hypothetical frying pan is involved. She talks about Susan Sto Helit a lot. I think she's definitely found a new role model. Man, I hope they end up with those DVDs being released in Region 1.

Yay, Susans rule the Universe! Susan Shwartz told me so, it must be true.

I guess we need to get Maggie her own fireplace poker. That's our girl!

Oh Yeah! I can just see her with a poker.. :)

Sounds like Susan with a side order of Tiffany Aching...

I really want to do a Susan Sto Helit costume, but now that the movie's out, I'm afraid I'll get locked into whatever they did for that. :P

Oooh. Actually, you'd look really good in it. Although I don't know how you'd manage the hair.

I got a wig at Party City when all the Halloween stuff went on sale. ;) Advance planning.

If I can pull it off, the centerpiece of the costume will be an articulted Death of Rats shoulder puppet.

Susan is the one that's Death's granddaughter, right?
We've got a VHS of Soul Music that she figures prominently in; it's a British-done anime version that somebody gave us.

There is a LOT of Terry Pratchett available in audio books-on-CD, too. We listened to Going Postal on the trip to and from GaFilk last year, and parts of Guards! Guards! on an earlier trip. The guy who reads them does the voices WONDERFULLY. I enjoyed the audio version of Guards more than I did the print version I checked out of the library in order to finish it. You might check your library for those.

I don't think I'm much of an audiobook person. It's a pity, it would make knitting and quilting and such easier to schedule. But I tried an audiobook tape - and found myself not paying much attention to it, most if it just went by.

You've obviously talked about this before, but I just skipped over about a month's worth of LJ posts in order to see more current stuff.

"Watched Hogfather"? As in, there's a third Discworld cartoon to go with Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters?

Oh, frabjous day! Calloo, callay!

*poing* *poing* *poing*

No, NOT a cartoon. BETTER.

They did a live action miniseries for British TV.

It's FANTASTIC.

I posted about it back on Dec. 29th. (Sigh, that feeling of people don't wanna read me...)

Relevant website link - http://www.skyone.co.uk/hogfather/ (although I occasionally had problems getting it to load)

I haven't read *anybody* for about a month, until today. (Well, except comments on *my* journal. But even that's been pretty infrequent.)

Me neither

[identity profile] carbonelle.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
That is, "me neither on the reading anybody" thing, since we got body-slammed by winter weather (I think parts of Canada decided they'd just about had enough and shipped it to us for an Extra Special X-mas Pressie!) and things like power and 'net access went by the wayside.

I'm STILL at 500+ back on my FL!

But Hogfather's sounds v. cool.

Alexandra is going the gender wars one better (or, taking after her mom, "one clueless") since *her* heroes are George and Harold of Capt. Underpants fame. We've had to be quite specific about boards and bad robots and whacking things!

Yes, I've been trying to catch up, and I was wondering if the Mighty Mite had discovered Capt. Underpants! *combined laughter and shudders*
