Donors Choose challenge

I know some of those Donors Choose gift certificate emails from SixApart are still trickling in. If you're just getting yours, please consider donating to the projects in my challenge.

And of course, you're welcome to donate either in addition to the LJ gift certificates or on your own, if you so choose.

We've raised $240 for this challenge so far, I hope we can do more.

Autistic and other special ed children often have needs that are quite different from other children their age. As a mother of one autistic child and one speech delayed child, I've learned so much about how hard special ed teachers work for these kids. I've created a challenge - a group of proposals I'm asking people to help - with a few unusual projects that will help autistic kids here in Texas - little things that can make a huge difference for them. One in Arlington, three in a special needs classroom down in San Antonio.

Something as simple as a carpet or a rocking chair can make a big difference for these children!

This is complicated. I have to get a gift certificate from Six Apart and give it to Donors Choose? Is it okay if I just donate by credit card?

Oh, absolutely you can donate it that way.

It's just that LJ/SixApart was giving away gift certificates for free over the weekend. So we were snapping up as many of those as we could.

I expect I'll be donating by credit card in addition myself, once I see how the whole thing goes and which of the projects either needs it the most or is the closest to being filled.
