So I was planning to get everybody up early, make a nice breakfast, and hurry everybody off to services at the UU church. [livejournal.com profile] selenite convinced me that I was too cumulatively sleep-deprived, and I should go back to bed, let him make some breakfast, and we should skip church today. Bless him. He made a scrumptious breakfast, too. (During that extra hour of sleep, even in my dreams I was trying to hustle about and get everything together. Sigh.)

Early this afternoon I realized that I thought it was the Sunday that a knitting group was scheduled to meet at the Borders. I'd heard about it last month during a brief stop at the local yarn store, but the March one had been the day Brendan was due to fly home from spring break, so it didn't work out. I checked the calendar - yep, that'd been third Sunday, this was 3rd Sunday, so I decided to try to go. I took the baby, left the older two home with [livejournal.com profile] selenite.

I got there and looked for people in the area near the cafe, where I'd thought they'd be. Nobody. Oh, well, maybe I got the date wrong. Briefly browsed, then sat down in one of the comfy chairs there to knit a bit on the sock, so it shouldn't be a complete waste. Shortly thereafter a lady came up to me, complimented me on the work and the baby, and did I know they were having a knitting meeting? Yes, I'd been looking for them! Turned out they were in the back corner of the store. So I trundled us back there.

I mostly sat and listened, got a bit of knitting done, it was nice. The lady who runs Jenning St Yarn store remembered Jamie and me, I don't know the rest. But I figure sitting and knitting and listening is the start of that. It was nice. Jamie was absolutely a dream baby, mostly quite happy to lay in his stroller and watch people, grin at eye contact, and make occasional raspberries. He needed changing at one point, bipped out to the van with him and came back, and he ate shortly thereafter. He was much admired and a bit flirted with. I enjoyed myself and plan to go back next month.
