I did NOT have enough yarn to do a pair of socks for Maggie with the rainbow yarn. I had just over enough to do one. Finished that one this morning. (note to self: paying attention to the kitchener stitch can mean you burn your bagel.) I found out it's Regia Clown Ringel, and I can get more fairly easily, oh good. I'll order more, but move on in the meantime. So for the first time, I will go on to another pair of socks without doing the second one of this pair.

If you are waiting for more yarn, it's NOT "the Dreaded Second Sock Syndrome", right? Right?

I'm doing a pair of socks for darling [livejournal.com profile] selenite next. I thought about trying to do them in secret, but nah. There's just too much of my good knitting time that's when he's driving and I'm riding in the car. And since I'm trying to do my first ADULT pair of cables, and the last pair for kids taught me that cables really pull in a lot, better that I try them on him. I'm adapting the same adult pattern as before, but in sock weight not worsted, I'm going to add a couple more purl stitches (so the base is K2,P2,K4,P2, not K2,P1,K4,P1), and go with 8 repeats instead of 6. That's my first draft, anyway, I'll have to get a few inches done and try it on him and see where we go from there. I have a green and white variegated opal for him, the same variegated as
Trippple Broadripple socks in blue and white variegated Opal yarn

And he says he'll be happy with that.

I still need to come up with a clever way to photograph my finished Tripple Broadripple socks for the Knitalong. I think I have enough of the blue/white variegated Opal yarn leftover to use that to work on circular gauge swatches with an acquaintance from FJUUC that I'm planning to teach sock knitting. She's done some knitting, so that's good, but we need to go through and figure out what needle size gives her a good sock gauge. As I got this badly wrong at first - [livejournal.com profile] bkseiver assumed I'd knit loosely like many beginners, and I knit high tension and tight - I want to make sure I get it right for her. Especially since I want to teach her the two circs method, and it's not cheap to buy multiple sets of good circs. I know she's on a tight budget.
