So when I did the first rainbow cloverleaf eyelet sock for Maggie, I used wooden DPNs down the cuff, then switched to 2 circs (metal) on picking up the gusset stitches. And that went just fine.

Well, once I got the extra skein of yarn I needed to finish them, I already had [livejournal.com profile] selenite's green cabled socks on the circs. And I only have one pair of size 3 circs. So I tried just going on down the foot of the rainbow sock with the DPNs.

I just put the two of them up against each other to check for length - and got my first really clear look at the difference in gauge. Darn. Nope, that will NOT do. Frogging time. I'm going to have to yank them back to the heel. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up there, and not have to frog the whole thing. But I'll have to wait to frog them until those 2 circs are available, and that's going to drive me nuts.

Wish I had a 2nd pair of circs in that size. It is the size I use the most often. But I hadn't wanted to encourage myself to have multiple projects going too much. Plus, I just found out that HeartStrings Fiber Arts is closing her retail store and going wholesale pattern sales only as of June, so I'm buying some of the kits and such I'd been wanting, plus 2 skeins of yarn for the next knitalong sock, so I'm spending money on my knitting as it is. Bother.
