So in this post here I'd complained about having done one sock on wooden DPNs for the cuff but the metal circs for the foot, and then the circs were busy when I got to the 2nd sock, and I used the DPNs on down the foot - and the foot's knitted too loose, and I'll have to frog it.

Well, I thought the differences were due to wooden versus metal and DPNs versus circs. Turns out that's not all. The circs were the metal Inox express ones - which I never bought, Mom traded me those for the size 1 Addi Turbo circs we'd bought me to start sock knitting with, and they turned out to be too small, as I knit really tight. I'd thought of them as size 3's. I found out today that they're not, really. Saw them for sale on a site I'm shopping on, listed as size 2-3. Turns out they're 3 mm. Size 2 is 2.75 mm, size 3 is 3.25 mm. So these are halfway between size 2 and size 3. This would explain why the size 3 wooden DPNs did not get as tight a gauge!

I suppose this is sure going to build brand loyalty - these are the needles I do almost all of my sock-weight yarn knitting with, and I get a gauge that I've been quite happy with, but it means it's going to be harder for me to use any other needles!
