alarm clock

Somewhere out there has to be an alarm clock designed to wake up somebody who's in proximity of other people who don't need to be woken. Not a quiet alarm clock - he sleeps right through even loud ones. I'm picturing something like a velcro-around-the-ankle vibrating alarm clock.[1] I hope I'm not inventing this. You'd think that, oh, say a crowded culture like the Japanese would have need of this, wouldn't you? Or college students?
I've been searching online, just poked through Sharper Image, haven't found it.
