No, [livejournal.com profile] neonnurse, I did not go to a Simon and Garfunkle concert. This weekend is [livejournal.com profile] selenite and my fifth anniversary. We, Maggie, baby Jamie, [livejournal.com profile] tygerr and [livejournal.com profile] tygerr's Son#1 and Son#2 all went to Scarborough Faire. We had a lovely time. Pictures are here. Mostly Maggie pictures. She had a pony ride! I bought myself a snood - I used to wear snoods all the time with my shorter hair in the past, and had gotten away from it. Yes, I still have them in boxes SOMEWHERE - well, now I have another one, a pretty blue. I also got a leather choker with a rose on it. Tried to get a good picture of me, didn't succeed.

Then this evening we've had fun with introducing Son#2 to the joys of my player piano, and we all played Unexploded Cow.

Given that we have three Bujoldian listees here who do not co-domicile, I suppose it counts as a mini-Lois-con, and [livejournal.com profile] tygerr declared it a not-Balticon pity-party. And I suppose we made it official when we were singing my Bujoldian filk to one of the rolls I had Son#2 play.

Isn't she a darlin'. I seem to recall pictures of Brendan in a tree like that - at la Brea Tar Pits - waiting for the same Maggie to be born.

Liked the cart with the canopy - what a great idea!

The cart was actually a rental at the faire, they had lots of them with different colored canopies. Our cart is still disassembled after the move, and we don't know where all the pieces are. The canopy was great, kept Jamie shaded most of the day.

Sounds lovely; wish I could have joined you! I spent many months trying to figure out how to squeeze Balticon out of both the time and monetary budgets, and came up empty, so a pity-party would have been nice. Of course, I am getting lots of sewing done, so all is not lost. (Perhaps the sewing counts as a Balticon Pity-Party Pity-Party? A sort of Meta-Pity-Party.)

We would have loved to have had you! If you ever come out here in the springtime, I'd happily take you to the faire.

I thought of you while I was there, particularly when I saw the marionette booth. I went over and looked at it, but it wasn't that great, nothing really worthy of your interest. But then I figure Enkidu has to be a hard act to follow.

"We would have loved to have had you!"

Goodness, Red Riding Hood, what a lot of auxiliary verbs you have! I would have loved to have been had!

I'm taking a marionette workshop this summer (if I get my act in gear and actually call the center and register for it).

All the better to describe you with, Grandma! Or would you rather be the Big Bad Wolf? Hm, remembering the purple horns, I see you more as a Big Bad Wolf.

I would have loved to have been had!

Well, I hope you know that we'd love to have you and Aaron visit sometime. There's a fall renfaire further south, and various cons in the area.

Ah, but are they ready for you?

[livejournal.com profile] selenite and I were chatting about your puppetry, and he mentioned the bit in Pinocchio where the Blue Fairy animates Gepetto's workshop, and he said this should NOT happen in the prop room at XPT! That led me to thinking of knitting patterns I'd seen for fingerpuppets, and well, there was also this story about a lady who knitted socks and when somebody had made a joking comment, she'd gone ahead and knitted and presented him with a 'wienie warmer' - I was finding the combination of these two ideas pretty scary.

Alas, it was hard even to justify the expense of one trip to Texas this year (for the con). No way we can manage a second one, unless Aaron gets a speaking invitation--it does happen, and if it does, don't think I'll let you forget the invitation! :-)

Combination . . . sounds like Enki/Pinocchio slash. "I am a real . . ."

Never mind, let's not go there.

5 Years!

"Err, umm, how the heck did that happen?" I ask myself, and then I think of all that has occurred since then, and I wonder how we fit it all in. I remember that weekend very vividly. The wind, the heat, the cake, the cake topper, the King, all the mead (we were drinking some White Winter last night and thinking of you two), and the ceremony and the love in both pairs of eyes, and the smiles on both faces. It was a -happy- wedding! I am grateful that you asked us to perform it.

Maggie is adorable, and Jamie looks like he's ready to eat the washcloth, but that's a 5 month old for you.

Blessings on the day, both of you!

My very first fifth anniversary, and I'm quite proud of it. And there I was celebrating yesterday in the same leine, skirt, and overdress as I wore to the wedding. (Okay, the overdress came off after a couple of hours of heat)

I love him even more now.

Jamie's actually chewing on his outfit. Remember how the former Baron and Baroness of Lyondemere would wear those cute matching light green/dark green particolored outfits, and their daughter had a matching dress? That's the dress, they'd passed it down to us for Maggie. She first wore it, I believe, to November Queen's Champion tourney in Lyondemere, Nov 02.

Here:

Remember that day? We spent the day over with Altavia.
