I believe I mentioned the Tyras's house has a Very Big Dog?

I remember after last time my eyes were stinging a bit. Tonight they're stinging VERY badly. And Brendan had an asthma attack and needed a breathing treatment.

I can probably cope with the eyes stinging thing, but I suspect I probably should not take Brendan to the Tyras's again. Which is a pity and a shame, because they were so welcoming and kind to him, and so very hospitable.

But it's looking like he's inherited his Granddad's allergy to dogs.

Keep the friends, ditch the dog. Translation: invite them to your house. Premedicate Brendan with an inhaler dose, or whatever, because they will be "doggy". Still, it should be much better than him being at their house.

Oh no! We just got the Very Big Dog.

Um, if we bathe her and use that dander-control stuff, do you think it'll be okay?

Well, my current Best Hope of achieving Atlanta is GaFilk, and for that I expect Brendan to be with the ex.

I suspect it may also vary by type of dog. He seemed to do okay while we had the Keeshond mix, for a while, years ago when he was younger. But then so did I. The Great Dane was getting to both of us.

Hmm. Karli has long hair - double coat. Is that like a Keeshond? I know it's nothing like a Great Dane.

Keeshonden are amazingly double coated. They blow their undercoat beyond belief at least twice a year. Their undercoat is amazingly spinnable, requires no blending - I used to spin it on the wheel straight off the comb.

When my mother-in-law, who's dog crazy, visited us while we had Liadan, I demonstrated this, spun up most of a bobbin, navajo plied it, and then crocheted up a square, and said "here, take him home with you". She was thrilled. Her dogs were apparently Rather Upset. I believe she took it in to work to show off her "granddog" and just confirmed to her coworkers that she was Really Weird.

Back then, Brendan had never yet shown a sign of asthma problems. So I'm guessing they wouldn't set him off now.

In any case, I'm hoping to travel without him to GaFilk, and it's even possible that Maggiekins won't be with me. Wow, getting down to only one kid, what an amazing thought. Sometimes I think aw, they're so cute, and Maggie's so social, she'd have so much fun. But other days I think it'd be really nice if *I* could have some fun.
