Oookay. A few moments ago I caught a glimpse from the corner of my eye of what looked remarkably like Brendan going up the stairs after one of the cats on a leash.

What???

So I called him back. He came back, minus cat. "Brendan, what were you doing?"

"Walking the cat on a leash in the house."

I told him that he was NOT to do that to the cats again. I was impressed, but he was not to do it again.

Then I went upstairs and found Pouncequick, the older, cranky, grouchy, child-wary cat. Who did indeed have one of the blue straps that used to hold the baby corral together when it was folded for storage, snapped around her neck. Fortunately not too tightly. I showed [livejournal.com profile] selenite, then freed her. I'm amazed she let herself get caught by him and he got it on her.

Is it wrong of me to suggest acquiring a proper cat-harness (the "H" form, say), and explaining that if you want to walk a cat on a leash, you have to use the right sort of harness, so the cat won't choke? O:>

Well, we don't normally walk the cats at all. I used to have such a harness, I may still have one, but I don't have any cats that are willing.
