So, having heard so many people raving over it, and since [livejournal.com profile] selenite saw some of it in the video room at FenCon and liked it, [livejournal.com profile] selenite picked up the DVDs of Firefly. We have started watching some of the pilot tonight. Not going to get to finish it tonight, clearly.

So nobody jump in with major spoilers. I am trying to keep track of who's who, and that sort of thing. I wonder if there's an equivalent to The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 for Firefly.

Don't worry, after the characters are all set up, the stories move along faster after that. Like any Western.

The scenario is after the Civil War, just not the same one as American Westerns were. Captain Mal was on the wrong side, and his story emerges as the series continues. There are no aliens, just human colonists on all the planets they visit. The substitute for "savage natives" are truly frightening though... hehehe.

I have the whole season on DVD and am carefully rationing it out to myself. But I would not mind re-watching a few of them with you!
