So I'd been telling people that I wanted to get camera shots of Jamie carrying the ladybug ball around in his mouth like a puppy - I finally got them.

Some of the pictures get really tricky, because his reaction to the camera is to crawl at me at top speed. Makes it difficult to get a good shot.

Then sometimes he just decides he's going to sit there with the ball, and try to figure out what Mama is doing.

The camera isn't very fast - and sometimes, as he's crawling across the room towards me, he drops the ball.

But I persisted, and I finally got the shot.

Sick as I am, the process totally wiped me out!

[livejournal.com profile] selenite says "Don't you love those puppy-dog eyes?" and then tells me "that's what you get for marrying a dog person".

Ha! I hadn't thought of it that way. Jamie and his amazing floating ball! Clearly this gift must be trained.

Of course this could explain all the odd things around this house that disappear.

Did you know that your computer thinks it's 3:44 am?

Does he fetch? Roll over?

It's always seemed to me that babies really do go through a "people puppy" stage. I used to call my sisters' kids that. The same cuteness and the same curiosity -- including using the mouth as a means of exploring the world -- plus the crawling and the "see what I can do, Mom!" eagerness to please. (If he starts crawling under your bed to chew the shoes, though, watch out! We had a puppy -- a real puppy, part beagle and part Lab -- that did that.)

Anyway, I think the second one especially would be a good userpic.

Roll over, yes. Fetch, no, although Maggie's doing that now. (After Karl woke up earlier he wondered out loud where his glasses were. Maggie found them and gave them to her.)

He will chew on the shoes, which is why we have a plastic bin right *outside* the babygated area that we keep the shoes in as much as possible.

It's LJ. Which often assigns wonky incorrect times to posts. Ironically, your comment is tagged as 3:47 AM....

Incidentally, I'm quite fond of #3 as well. Though I was just thinking of it as a hard-to-capture "action shot" rather than telekinesis. Thinking of it as a baby superpower makes it even better! ;-)
