Gerry Tyras is a marvelous man.

I tell you this, because he gave me a marvelous birthday present. (He's marvelous for other reasons, too, but this is why I'm posting today.) He put three old filk tapes onto CDs for me. Leslie Fish's Chickasaw Mountain and The Undertaker's Horse, and a live Frank Hayes tape.

These are all tapes I've bought myself in the past, mind you. But they were on tapes, and getting driven around in cars in LA heat, and eventually died or were dying. And I don't have reliable tape players. So I haven't heard them for ages.

It feels so GOOD to play them now and sing along!

After I finish editing this current batch of pictures, I'm going to put the music here on the computer, so I can listen to it more often. (This computer can handle one of either Outlook, the music software, or the photo software, at a time, but not more.)

On seeing a non-sexist painting of a male and female warrior on the cover of an older science fiction book, then checking the name of the artist, and finding it pretty unambiguously male, I asked [livejournal.com profile] selenite, reader of the book, "Do you think it could be a pen name?"

He suggested perhaps it would have to be a brush name. "Do artists have brush names?" he asks. "Do digital artists have mouse names?"
