online filk sources
Jan. 27th, 2005 01:57 pmSo tomorrow night there will be FILK going on here.
How many filkers, of what species, and from what planets, I don't yet know. Hopefully any needing atmosphere modification will let me know ahead of time. Managing the snacks, beverages (intoxicating and non), electrical outlets, and other refreshments can't be too bad, right?
In preparation for this, I'm hoping to have
selenite print out some filk lyrics and sheet music. I need to start building my filkbook, and I ought to have enough to share with everyone, if I want them to sing a song I vaguely know and want to get to know better. (Those with the ability to jack directly into the broadband connection will have it covered, of course)
Echo's Children has a marvelous website with lyrics and sheet music, so we'll be learning a couple from there. I'd like to get a few other songs, too. Any recommendations with links?

Tom Smith [heard him at all? Dead funny! Some parodies, some original. His "Falling Free" got me to read LMB in the first place. It's a four-part harmony, of course!]

Songs and Poems of Middle-Earth.

[Tangentially: My favorite musical interpretation is the album THE STARLIT JEWEL by the group Broceliande, using the tunes composed by none other than Marion Zimmer Bradley. Out of print but worth seeking. http://www.broceliande.org/sljReviews.html]
These should keep you busy for minutes on end!

Date: 2005-01-27 09:00 pm (UTC)No sheet music at http://www.prometheus-music.com/eli/virtual.html -- but mp3s.
However, the link there to http://www.prometheus-music.com/eli/leslie.html gives Much Fishness. Chords, not individual notes, but I hope it's close.
Me again
