I found this today:
desperate times call for desperate measures... (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] technomom!)

I want a tiara of domestic apotheosis!

I wonder if it would help. I wonder where I'd get one. It'd have to be CLASSY, nothing plastic that looks like it should come with a barbie doll.

Kid you not, go to Claire's. That's where I got my wedding tiara, and it's really classy. I spent either $7 or $17 on it. Can't remember exactly. Either way, go NOW, before all the chickypoos get them for their prom outfits.

Mine has lots of rhinestones on it. They had pearl ones, too.

Oh dear. I went into a Claire's a while back, when Jamie was a wee baby, to look for barrettes. I'd just had my hair chopped off, into that awful medium length cut, hadn't chopped it short all the way yet. I felt SO out of place there, I was definitely too old. The typical age had to be less than half mine!

That's also the store where I first had the kids in the double stroller - almost impossible to maneuver. Heh, that's also where Maggie attempted to stick her hand down Jamie's throat, poor baby.

That's exactly the place. Take Maggie with you and buy her some cheap little pretty bit, and slip a tiara in your basket.

Pride or tiara?

Pride or tiara?

Tiara, sez me.

Eh... what I really want is more like some sort of brass or silver crown, something in the style of my favorite hair ornament, or that hammered brass filigree mask that a friend of mine got at Dragoncon. Wonder if I can find anything like that.

Well, no, not at Claire's. You'll have to pay a lot more for something like that, if I'm understanding what you're wanting.

I have an awesome tiara, as you can see in the picture, and you can have one too! Mine is from a store called Girl Props, and they have a web site: www.girlprops.com

Happy shopping!

Hee hee!! That's great!!

I hate cleaning, and have had to put myself (well us, but really for me) on a schedule.

Maybe I'll try something fun. I'm not big on hair stuff, and tiaras are definitely not in my personal world view. But there is see-through comfy outfit that I put on sometimes around the house on weekends. I did that recently and had to do some of the scheduled cleaning. It drove my husband crazy. I could get into that on a regular basis!! Might make it all more fun!!

Sorry, more than you wanted to know, I'm sure!! But thanks for pointing out the link!! :-D

Check out Sam Moon! They have a fabulous selection of really seriously nice tiaras. We've got two of them in the Dallas 635 area, but you can order online too. If you haven't made it out there, we need to schedule a trip....sans kiddos sometime (it's not a fun place with little ones, but oh my goodness, is it a girly mecca!)
